Banbury Community Action Group

Bags of Help – Getting Started

BagsOfHelp_logo_medium Last night we had our monthly catch up at Ye Olde Reindeer pub on Parsons St, and as usual, there was a great turn out and some exciting stuff going on.

The group always has lots going on and last night was no exception. We chatted about the Banbury North signal box, the car club survey, June’s Give or Take event (25th in the town centre seeing as you ask) and most importantly the Bridge Street Community Garden.

The group were successful in getting £10,000 from Tesco’s Bags of Help fund, which is the money collected from the 5p carrier bag charge. So a year after the garden first started, we have a year to spend the money and make the community garden as great as we all know it can be. There were some great suggestions to upgrade the site, make the canal side safer and grow lots of produce for the people of Banbury.

So here is where you all come in. The Garden team meet every Wednesday at 6pm at the garden, to work on the garden, and afterwards they pop in to Naomi’s Cafe for a chat and to make decisions about the garden. Why not pop along and say hello, you can help out and let them know your great ideas on making the Bridge Street Community Garden a brilliant place to be.

So why not come along with some enthusiasm and ideas and have fun. We are just getting started!
